We have been VERY busy here at The Historic Post Office with bridal shows, styled shoots, photography sessions, workshops, appointments and new clients! Whew! It’s been a wonderful season for us and we are SO excited to share some exciting news with the world- we are now offering an ELOPEMENT PACKAGE!
At the HPO, we noticed that quite a few of our potential clients were looking for an intimate place to get married and have a small reception. Well, with 42,000 square feet (and a lot of cleaning involved) it was hard for us to accommodate those brides. Trust us when we say that we understand the burden of a budget and the lack of venues in Hampton Roads that offer anything “small scale” without breaking the bank. So, with this in mind, we went to the drawing board and racked our brains on HOW we could help these couples that still wanted to have a small ceremony and reception in a beautiful space but only had so much to spend.
We have been developing the idea of an “elopement” package for a few months now and we truly believe that we have something special to offer couples in the area!
So, without further ado, here are the details of this fabulous package along with some photos of our recent elopement shoot! This shoot represents what a ceremony and reception would look like for our couples who decide to “elope” here!
• Access to the downstairs portion of the HPO
• Helpful and knowledgeable on-site staff
• 1 female restrooms (3 stalls total)
• 1 male restrooms (3 stalls total)
• 1 family restroom
• Setup and breakdown of ceremony and reception (excluding any personal decor)
• Event rentals; 50 folding mahogany chairs
• Event rentals; tables

• Buffet-style catering for 50 people (choice of BBQ cuisine or traditional cuisine)
• Event florals including bouquet, boutonniere, 7 centerpieces (in your color choice)
• Small cake for 50 people (choice of vanilla or chocolate)
• Linens (choice of white, ivory or black)
• 3 hours of photography
• 4 hours of DJ services
• Ceremony Officiant
The white exposed brick area of the HPO will be used as the ceremony space for the elopements. We provide an in-house officiant (who is ordained) for the ceremony, ceremony music and enough seating for 50 people. I mean, who wouldn’t want to get married in this gorgeous space?!
After the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. and their guests will head into a beautiful reception just steps away. The newlyweds can choose to take some photos before entering the reception or they can go greet their guests immediately. The reception tables will already be set up with a linen, napkins, table number, 4 votive candles and a stunning centerpiece. Our elopement guests can certainly bring in their own personal decor as well, if they choose.
During the reception, guests will enjoy a buffet meal, music, dancing and, of course, cake! Although alcohol is not included in the price, clients can certainly bring in their own alcohol if they would like (as long as they get an ABC license for the day).
