Hello friends! It has been a while since we checked in with the renovations and I can’t believe that we are posting the last installment of our series, #renovationwednesdayHPO
If you have been following along with our journey, you may know that we completed the majority of our renovations in January of 2017. While we still expect things to grow and change in the venue, we are completely blown away with how everything turned out and we can’t wait to host many celebrations and special days in the venue.
LOOK HOW FAR WE HAVE COME!
Our beloved white-washed brick foyer area is the most historic part of the building and capture’s hearts as soon as guests walk into the building. To spruce this area up, we stained the original flooring a dark brown, painted the walls and ceiling, installed new sconces, and gave the windows a deep clean.
Our main banquet area came a LONG way from it’s start. It was hard imaging the rough, barren space as warm and inviting but I believe we achieved our dream of creating the perfect space for any event. The dark tones of the floor and ceiling really did wonders for the entire atmosphere of the building. We installed brand new hardwood floors, pained the 30 ft walls, stained the ceiling, installed state of the art event lighting (thanks Stage Right Lighting) enclosed the main stair case, and painted all of the metal work a gorgeous shade of black.
Both sets of public restrooms (upstairs and downstairs) were TOTALLY ripped out and started from scratch. Upscale bathrooms were important to us during the design phase so we included nice touches to them like granite counter-tops and wooden doors in the stalls. However, our favorite thing about them might be the fun mirrors that were installed!
The kitchen was the very last thing that was finished in the construction phase. We added (3) Alto Shams for warming food, (1) double door reach in refrigerator, (1) single door reach in freezer, (6) 6′ stainless steel prep tables, (5) rolling carts and plenty of trash cans. As expected, our load-in dock didn’t change much!
The mezzanine is one of the BEST seats in the house here at the HPO. You can see the entire venue from up there and guests never feel left out of the event when placed on the second floor because they are well accommodated with restrooms, a great view, and an elevator. Up here we painted all of the walls and ducts, installed dark hardwood flooring, put in new semi-flush lighting, and built additional public restrooms.
To recap, here is our original checklist from the construction phase of things we wanted to do with the main banquet space. I have placed a √ next to everything that was accomplished.
- Dark, hardwood floors throughout the building √
- Light, natural colored walls throughout the building √
- Black painted railings √
- Dark wood ceilings in the main area √
- Dark brown exposed ceilings on the mezzanine area √
- All new light fixtures throughout the building √
- Brand new restrooms throughout the building √
- A large, well-equipped catering kitchen √
Our next post will be revealing the final products of the rest of the building! Stay tuned! #renovationwednesdayHPO!
