Downtown Hampton Styled Shoot

If you’re an #HPObride, groom, or future guest for an HPO wedding, then this blog is for you! You may be an out-of-towner and uncertain of what to do on wedding weekend, so we’re here to help. The Historic Post Office is located in downtown Hampton and has plenty to offer for tourist attractions and restaurants. With the help of Tyler Adams of The Girl Tyler and Jaylynn Wallace of Rated Pretty Girl (and her hubby!), we were able to capture some of our favorite spots downtown.

We began our adventure at Blue Skies Gallery, a business in Hampton for more than 20 years. Blue Skies offers a variety of fine art including pottery, jewelry, paintings, and photography from local artists. It’s a pleasure to walk through the gallery and even more fun to snap some shots in it!

Blues Skies offers gift registries and classes including paint nights, so grab your bridal party and paint away!

Just like the HPO, downtown is filled with history. The vintage look can be found in murals and in shops like Mint Julep Antiques.

You can find vintage furniture, handmade items, note cards, books, and other goodies in Mint Julep. Some of our other fav shops are The Virginia Store, Hampton Stationary, and Barrel-Art.

One of the staples of downtown Hampton is Glazed Doughnuts. They happen to be right across the street from the HPO and often provide dessert for our events. Jay Tee & Stephen enjoyed a red velvet doughnut – yum!

If you’re looking for a bite to eat, downtown has lots of options. We stopped by Marker 20, but some of our other favorites are Venture Kitchen & Bar and Brown Chicken Brown Cow. These restaurants are just down the street from the HPO and many guests walk down to continue the celebration post-wedding.

These fries were so delicious we took them in a box to-go!

This sweet spot was hidden in a back alley – you never know what gems you’ll find wandering around downtown!

Across Settlers Landing Road, you’ll find the docks with beautiful waterside views.

If your guests are searching for something to do during wedding weekend, we suggest Miss Hampton II Harbor Cruises. The cruise includes a full-service bar and can be upgraded to include catering, DJ, or live musician.

Bull Island Brewing is located right off the docks and has a patio for you to enjoy the waterfront views. They boast flagship and seasonal brews and a relaxed environment.

We don’t know if it was the good beer or the lighting but something about this space was just right for Jay Tee and Stephen!

Naturally, with all of this love for downtown Hampton, we had to snap some shots with the big LOVE sign!

Right behind the sign you can see both the historic Hampton Carousel and Virginia Air & Space Center. These, along with Hampton History Museum , are great tourist attractions for family and friends!

We had to get Jay Tee & Stephen under the downtown lights. So romantic!

And to end it all at our favorite downtown Hampton business, Jay Tee & Stephen got a little cozy at the HPO. 😉

If you need more helpful hints for what to do in Hampton, we suggest checking out our accommodations page or just asking what the HPO staff recommends! We love to help our HPO couples & their guests in any way that we can. If you find yourself enjoying downtown, use #visithamptonva to spread the love!

A big thank you to our vendors and the aforementioned downtown Hampton businesses for making this styled shoot a reality.
